My Top Five Songs I Could Never Get Tired Of 🎼
Updated: Sep 10
I have way too many favorite songs to narrow my list down to five, but these are five that I genuinely cannot, and probably will not, stop listening to. They are all completely different from each other, but each one makes me feel something very specific. Some remind me of people I love, some bring me back to certain moments, and one simply makes me feel incredibly confident. If a song can make me feel something every single time I hear it, I think it deserves a spot on this list.
1."The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" - Taylor Swift
I genuinely think this is one of Taylor Swift's best songs ever, especially because of the bridge. Every time it comes on, I scream it, and somehow I still get goosebumps even though I have heard it a million times. The lyrics are so clever that I feel like I notice something new every time. "You kicked out the stage lights, but you’re still performing" is one of my favorites because she is basically saying that even after the relationship is over and there is no audience left, he is still putting on an act. Like, HELLO??? How is that so smart? The whole song builds this picture of someone who is completely fake and undeserving of the love they received, which makes the title "the smallest man who ever lived" hit even harder. I love how Taylor can make something incredibly specific feel universal, and the combination of the writing, melody, and anger in the bridge makes this a song I will never get tired of.

2."Ryder" - Madison Beer
"Ryder" is the song on this list that makes me think most about my sister. It is about Madison and her brother growing up together after their parents divorced. My parents are still together, so I cannot relate to that exact story, but I relate deeply to growing up alongside a sibling and having someone who has been there through so many versions of you. My sister and I went to Madison Beer's concert together 2 summers ago, and when she sang "Ryder," we just held onto each other and cried. We were thinking about our own childhood and everything we have experienced together. Now, whenever I hear it, I think about how lucky I am to have someone who remembers so much of my life because she was there for it too.

3."loml" - Taylor Swift
"loml" is, to me, one of the most deeply emotional and lyrically brilliant songs I have ever heard. I love the idea of a relationship being legendary in your life while also being momentary. It does not have to last forever to completely change you. Every lyric feels so carefully chosen, like it came directly from Taylor's soul. "I wish I could unrecall how we almost had it all" is one line that makes me feel so much because sometimes the hardest part is not losing what you had, but losing what you thought you were going to have. I also connect the song to my grandfather and the feeling of losing someone who made such a huge impact on your life. "loml" reminds me that something can be temporary and still become legendary in your memory.

4."less" - Olivia Rodrigo
"less" is one of those songs I almost have to be in the right mood to listen to because it makes me so sad. The line "if loving me means letting go and wishing me the best, then I guess I wish, I wish, I wish you loved me less" gets me every time. There is something heartbreaking about loving someone so much that letting them go becomes the best thing you can do, even though you desperately do not want to. I felt a version of that after a relationship ended that I was very attached to. It also makes me think about losing my grandfather. Sometimes you love someone so much that losing them hurts almost as much as loving them made you happy.

5."Sports Car" - Tate McRae
And then there is "Sports car," which could not be more different from the other four. The song literally opens with "hey cute jeans, take mine off me," and I immediately found myself leaning forward like, okaaaaay. From there, the whole song just has this confident, sexy, slightly naughty energy that I love. The lyrics, beat, and attitude make me feel like a completely different version of myself. Sometimes music does not need to have some deep emotional meaning. Sometimes you just need a song that makes you feel attractive and confident, and "Sports car" does exactly that for me. I love that it brings out a side of me that the other songs on this list definitely do not.
